Dick Barnes passed away on Friday, November 7th, at home with his family.

He had back pain in mid September, when it didn’t ease after a while; he went in for tests and X-rays.  It was lung cancer.

His cancer was extensive, (lung, liver and maybe even bone)   and since the outcome would be the same, he chose not to undergo chemotherapy, but to be able to come home with the help of Hospice care.

The time from the diagnosis of lung cancer to his death was a mere 17 days.   For all of us this was a long but short journey.

The Black Diamond Gun Club played a large part in his retirement life.  He was never happier than when he was shooting or just talking with you all.  He enjoyed his part in working with the various police personnel using the range, looked forward to helping with hunter site- in each fall and just generally promoted gun and hunter safety.  He also loved introducing his golden retriever Susie to as many of you as possible for her socialization.   She was shy but she wasn’t gun shy.

We wish to thank you for the e-mails and the calls that we have received.  Your concern and interest in his welfare helped us a great deal.  Interment will be private at Tahoma National Cemetery.  Memorial plans are still pending.

Thank you to all of you.
