BDGC’s IDPA ACTIVITIES

NEW SHOOTERS…

SAFETY – We open our IDPA activities to all shooters who can safely load and unload their handgun.  New shooters must complete an IDPA safety orientation.  These sessions are conducted before the start of all matches and are mandatory for all new shooters.

GUNS – A shooter can get started with just about any safe, holstered handgun with iron sights.  Lasers and optical sights aren’t allowed.

HOLSTERS ‑ For safety reasons, holsters must be attached at the waist on the shooter’s strong-hand side – shoulder holsters, small-of-the-back and crossdraw holsters, etc., can’t be used.

IDPA COMPETITION RULES – The purpose of our IDPA activities is to have fun.  Along the way, you will hone your skills in the safe, competent handing of your chosen handgun.  There are limits to sizes and calibers for registered competition, but, especially for newcomers, we welcome any gun that can be managed and fired safely.

EXPERIENCED IDPA SHOOTERS…

CLASSIFIER MATCHES – We endeavor to keep our Classifiers efficient: multiple bays and small squads.  Classifiers may be planned on any regular, monthly match day or on a Thursday Practice Night.

THURSDAY PRACTICE NIGHTS – Four bays are available for basic drills, Classifier practice or whatever – you decide!
