Continental Trapshooting League

Looking for a way to stay active and sharpen your skills during the colder months? Come out and join the Puget Sound Olympic-Continental Trapshooting League (PSOCTL) at Black Diamond Gun Club. Whether you’ve watched the action on Field Four or are a seasoned veteran, there is a spot for you on the squad.

Black Diamond takes first place in the league almost every year, and we are looking for new shooters to help us defend our title. It’s a fantastic way to tour the region, meet fellow enthusiasts, and see how different clubs present their targets.

Why Shoot Continental?

Continental Trap is distinct from American Trap, offering a more dynamic and "bird-like" experience:

  • The Two-Shot Rule: You get two shots at every bird—a great way to practice your recovery and follow-up.
  • High Velocity: Targets are launched at 50 mph (compared to 40 mph in standard trap).
  • Unpredictable Flight: Birds move left, right, up, and down in erratic trajectories.
  • Post Movement: Shooters move to the next post after every 5 targets, keeping the momentum moving.
Gear Recommendations

Gun: 12-Gauge Over/Under is ideal.

Chokes: Modified for the first shot; Full for the second.

Loads: 1 oz of 7.5 or 8 shot at 1,200 fps.

Position: All shooting is done from the 17-yard line.
